21 July 2009

The annual All Ladies Race Day, hosted by the Combined Districts Kart Club (CDKC) in Lithgow, New South Wales, is continuing to grow into a major event in the Australian Karting Calendar.

This year's third running of the event showed once again the continuing rise of involvement of female competitors in the sport of karting with almost 100 drivers taking to the Lithgow Raceway in January.

While racing was one of the focuses for these young, and some not so young, fast femmes the cause of raising money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) was another.

On behalf of the events organiser CDKC, the club's President Tom Hearn recently presented a cheque to the value of $24,020 to NBCF CEO Sue Murray courtesy of the fund raising efforts surrounding the event, Hearn went on to thank everyone for there efforts in raising this amount.

"Since the original concept was developed around four years ago the All Ladies Event continues to grow from strength to strength," said Hearn.

"With karting a sport that is able to be enjoyed by people of all ages, from grandchildren through to grandparents, it is great to see so many females coming out to support the event year after year."

At the cheque presentation Murray indicated that the NBCF is grateful for the support shown by the karting community towards the event and the Foundation.

"The All Ladies Event is a fantastic event and over the past three years we have received over $50,000 in donations directly from the event and the associated fundraising efforts by those involved," said Murray.

"We are sincerely grateful for the support shown by everyone involved towards the Foundation and we look forward to continuing the relationship for many more years to come."

The CDKC kart club has already begun it's planning for the 2010 All Ladies Race Day and further details will be announced over the coming months.
