Winning Weekend For The Wooley Clan
02 November 2009
Upper Sturt youngsters Rhys and Chase Wooley continued their winning ways on the kart track last weekend by winning in the annual City of Adelaide Titles at the Bolivar Raceway in South Australia.

Competing in the Rookies category, for drivers aged between 10 and 12 years of age, Rhys was involved in a tight battle for the race lead with fellow South Australians Tyler Morrison and Jake Cole along with interstate visitors Blain Grills and Jake Dixon.
The quartet raced wheel to wheel for the race lead throughout the 21-lap final. Entering second last corner Cole was leading the way however, an incident between the leading trio resulted in Grills and Dixon crashing out of the event allowing Wooley to cross the line first ahead of Morrison. Cole recovered to finish ninth.
Dylan Howell claimed third place ahead New South Wales driver Andreas Chronis.
Not to be outdone by his older sibling, Chase Wooley took out the Midgets category for drivers aged between 7 and 10 years. These drivers reached speeds of up to 80 km/h around the 861-metre circuit. While karting for these kids is more about fun than winning championships the sport teaches them, both boys and girls, about car control long before they are able to obtain their road licence.
Finishing second behind Wooley was Jordan Murphy and Joshua Denton.
At the other end of the scale South Australian karting veteran Darryl Tolmer continues to prove that he has lost none of his touch behind the wheel.

Twenty-two years after claiming the Australian Championship in the Clubman Light class, Tolmer remains as one of the most competitive drivers in the state last weekend taking out the Clubman Over 40’s category.
Other winners at the event included Rocco Ventra (Clubman Light), Simon Layne (Sportsman 125 Heavy), Aidan Jame (Junior National Light), Darsey Kondopirakis (Junior National Heavy), Josh Tynan (Leopard Light), Simon Hodge (Junior Clubman), Mac Weidenhofer (Sportsman SA), Kevin Millard (Clubman Heavy), Trent Grubel (Junior Max), Scott Ferguson (Clubman Super Heavy), Craig Evans (Restricted 125 Heavy) and Blake Mooney (Rotax Heavy).
Last weekend’s event doubled as the final shakedown for competitors ahead of the State Championships to be held in four weeks time at the venue.
