Fothergill will face some tough opposition in the Leopard Light category from the likes of Toowoomba's Brendan Nelson and Ipswich driver Ryan Wlodzinski.

The Gladstone karter will also start as one of the favourites in the Pro Clubman category where he will line up alongside Nelson, Gold Coast's Ben Stewart and Mackay's Garioch brothers.

During the opening round of the series held at Ipswich last month it was Nelson who gained the upper hand on Fothergill in the Pro Clubman Light category in a hard fought battle, however, aided with the home track knowledge Fothergill is looking to turn the tables this Sunday.

It is expected that around 150 drivers will assemble for this Sunday's event with drivers ranging in age from seven years of age in the Midgets category through to drivers well into their forties and fifties.

For the drivers in the Midgets, Rookies and Junior categories, who are all aged under 16 years, the sport of karting provides them with the opportunity to learn valuable lessons about car control and driving technique well before they are old enough to obtain their road licence.

Drivers will take to the Formula K Raceway for practice tomorrow (Saturday) followed by racing throughout the day on Sunday. The Formula K Raceway is located at Benaraby Road, Gladstone
