Clubman, Junior National, Tag Restricted On The Cards For Opening CIK Stars Of Karting Round
08 February 2010
Clubman, Junior National and TaG Restricted drivers have the opportunity to compete at the opening round of the 2010 CIK Stars of Karting Series to be held on March 5-7 in Newcastle, New South Wales.
For the Clubman and Junior National drivers the event marks the opening event in the battle for the East Coast Title presented by Yamaha. The winner of the Clubman class across the four rounds will receive a trip to the All Japan Kart Championships later in the year.
Drivers in both categories will also receive various other prizes courtesy of the Yamaha Motor Company.
With both categories competing at a ‘Medium’ weight of 150kg and 130kg respectively, it provides the opportunity for the top drivers from both weight divisions to compete on an even playing field in a professionally run series.
"There is no doubt that the Clubman and Junior National categories are the backbone of our sport and by having these categories compete in conjunction with the CIK Stars of Karting Series it allows these drivers to get a taste of competing on the same card as the top drivers in our sport," said series organiser Peter Galvin.
The TaG Restricted category is one of the strongest in the Newcastle region and has been selected by the host club to compete on the schedule.
To assist with keeping travel costs to a minimum series organisers have designed the schedule to have practice to begin at 11am, therefore allowing interstate competitors to arrive on Friday morning for each round. All competitors will be able to contest five practice sessions throughout the day.
Supplementary regulations for the opening round are available under the rules section on the series website, www.starsofkarting.com.au and the official site of the AKA www.karting.net.au
The CIK Stars of Karting Series will kick off in Newcastle on March 5-7 and will incorporate the Australian CIK Championships for the Pro Light (KF1), Pro Gearbox (KZ2) and Pro Junior (KF3) categories.
