Karting World Cup Podium for CRG and Maxter

CRG and Maxter proved once again the competitiveness of their products at the World Cup held in Braga. From Jorrit Pex's pole position in KZ1 to Max Verstappen's podium in KF3, the Italian karts showed their potential on the difficult Portuguese track.

Portugal has always been a favourable battleground for CRG. From Portimao to Braga passing through other circuits, such as Bombarral, CRG and Maxter have become accustomed to seeing their chassis and engines on the podium, regardless of the category.

Winner of the last three editions of the KZ1 World Cup, CRG-Maxter karts had the technical means to aim for a fourth world title, with the support of the CRG Holland team and Tec-Sav. Jorrit Pex's victory hopes were still intact in the qualifying phase after he kept his place on the first row for the final phase, but he had a technical problem in the pre-final that cost him the race.

Max Verstappen, another driver who has chosen the prestigious CRG and Maxter brands, completed a fantastic race in spite of the heat that hovered above the Braga circuit at the KF3 World Cup. After setting the second best time in timed qualifying and three victories in the heats, the winner of the WSK Euro Series 2010 fought for victory until the end. When the battle for victory was raging, Max took the lead of the race, but then lost a few places during the 5th of 20 laps of the final. Though the CRG-Maxter of the Dutch driver managed to keep a very high pace, Max was unable to fill the gap that separated him from the leader.

"I was doing really well in the final race, but things did not turn out right afterwards. I remained in the lead for several laps in the pre-final, I almost managed to take the lead of the race, but then I was blocked on the outside during an overtaking manoeuvre. Three drivers were able to pass on the inside. Then, I did everything I could to regain the second place."

"For a rookie, becoming vice champion at the World Cup is a fantastic result and I hope I will soon be able to win a world title for CRG and Maxter. I know that thanks to my team and equipment, we have a chance to do it," Max Verstappen concluded.

The Italian drivers Antonio "Speedy" Fuoco and very young Alessio Profeta have both joined CRG official team recently and continue making progress, following hot on the heels of results achieved in Italy. The two drivers kept improving their times throughout the weekend, raising high hopes for their future.
