Frampton Family Eyeing Off National Glory
23 March 2010
With National honours on the line at their home track in Puckapunyal next weekend (April 2-4), Kyabram’s Lachie and Jaymee Frampton have got their sights set on victory in the National Sprint Kart Championships.
The siblings, who started their career behind the wheel over seven years ago when Lachie was ten and Jamyee eight, are all set to take on the best drivers from across the country in the Clubman Super Heavy and Junior National Heavy categories.

Since following their parents into the motor racing scene, both Lachie and Jaymee have developed into two of the top young drivers in the state. Lachie took out the Titan Series last year while Jaymee continues to prove that the sport isn’t just a boy’s world by winning the All Stars and Golden Power Series’ along with victory in the Junior Sprint Classic over the past couple of years.
“Karting is a great family sport, we’re all right into it and it has given us a common interest,” said Lachie Frampton, who is in his second year as an apprentice mechanic.
“While the racing, and winning, is enjoyable you also get to meet a heap of new people from all across the country.
“By racing karts from an early age it gave me a lot of confidence when I went for my licence a couple of years ago, I already knew how to drive a car and where my limits were.”
Jaymee, one of a growing group of female drivers in karting, has got her sights set on making a career out of motorsport as she eyes of securing a drive in the V8 Supercar Championship Series in the future. She is hoping that a good result in next weekend’s event will move her a step closer to achieving her goal.
“I just love going out on the track and being competitive, then beating the boys makes it even more enjoyable,” said Jaymee, a year 10 student at Kyabram High.
“This is my first attempt at the Easter Nationals but with the event being held on my home track, one that I really enjoy racing at, I’m confident that I can be right up there near the front of the pack.
“Since I started racing I’ve always wanted to make a career out of motorsport and I’d love to one day be racing V8 Supercars.”
A total of 356 entries have been received across ten categories for the championships with qualifying beginning on Friday April 2 followed by heat races on Saturday April 3 and the championship finals on Sunday April 4.
