Grother To Lead Five Kart TRACKSA Team

Gladstone kart racer John Grother will lead a five-kart assault in Australia’s elite karting series, the CIK Stars of Karting Series, in 2010.

The 28 year-old, who won the final two rounds of the 2009 championship, will be joined by fellow Central Queensland karters Cian Fothergill, Elle Brydon, Alistair Ingram and Brenton Simonds in the line-up for the TRACKSA Racing team.

With the major backing from the TRACKSA Safety Light systems Grother believes that the team can showcase the ability of Central Queensland karters in Australia’s top line series.

“Leading a team of Central Queensland karters against Australia’s best is something that I have always wanted to do and I’m very excited about it,” said Grother.

“I feel that I have the skills and confidence to operate a professional outfit and represent our sponsors and supporters well.”

All five drivers in the TRACKSA Racing line-up will compete aboard the European-made Kosmic chassis with Grother and Fothergill set to compete in the Pro Light(KF1) category, Brydon in the Pro Gearbox(KZ2), Ingram in Pro Junior(KF3) and Simonds in the supporting Clubman category.

Fothergill has been one of the front-runners for a number of years at both the state and national level of karting, the addition of the CIK Stars of Karting Series to his 2010 schedule is the next step in his flourishing career.

Brydon will be out to ‘take it to the boys’ while making the most of the experience during her debut season at the top level of karting in the country.

Like Brydon, Ingram will be using 2010 as a learning experience as the youngster makes the step up from local racing to the top level in the country.

Grother has also put a lot of effort into the image of the team and is looking forward to other teams in the series having the same approach.

“Our sponsors have invested in us and Australian Karting, so I want to ensure that we potray the best possible image to represent karting to Australian and international karting media. I have every bit of confidence in the drivers and cant wait for the series to begin,” said Grother.

“The team will all be using identical Kosmic Karts with all the information collected to be evaluated and passed on to each other giving the team an advantage in the ever changing conditions of the CIK style of racing,” said Grother.

The CIK Stars of Karting Series will kick off in Newcastle on March 5-7 and will incorporate championships for the Pro Light (KF1), Pro Gearbox (KZ2) and Pro Junior (KF3) categories.

Competitors in the Pro Light category will use the 125cc IAME KF specification engine, as used in the 2009 championship that was won by Newcastle driver Hayden McBride. The Pro Gearbox drivers will take to the track powered by a six-speed 125cc gearbox machine while the Pro Junior drivers will use a 125cc Vortex KF3 specification engine.
