PCR-AVG Drivers in the World Top 12

17 September 2010

In addition to fighting for victory with their most experienced driver Manuel Renaudie, the AVG Racing Team also revealed a young talent, Dylan Davies, in the very hard fought KZ1 World Cup in Portugal. Two PCR chassis in the world elite: another brilliant result that follows the German Champion title recently conquered by Renaudie and AVG.

The professionalism shown by AVG Racing Team, the ability of their technicians and the method they follow to prepare races are among the reasons that explain why, at each event, the Dutch team enjoys the trust of an important brand like PCR.

"Cooperation between AVG and PCR is excellent", confirmed Manuel Renaudie, who knows the Italian brand very well after racing with their chassis for several years. "In Braga, many observers confessed me that they were impressed by our level of performances and excellent chassis behaviour. I set the second best time during timed qualifying and I won one heat ahead of Bas Lammers. I am the only driver who defeated the future winner during the weekend. And I also set two best lap times.

Unfortunately, the abrasiveness of the track surface played a decisive role, causing tyre degradation problems. I think everybody had the same problem, though this is something regrettable at a world event. So, at the end of the final, I was unable to attack as I wanted. In these conditions, all drivers had just one goal: limiting tyre degradation as much as possible to cross the finish line. When I was fourth, I realised it was impossible to push more to try and reach the podium. A pity, because our TM engines had excellent performances, just like our PCR chassis".

His team mate Dylan Davies' performances were equally good. Although he was still in KF2 in 2009 and in KZ2 at the beginning of the season, the Dutch driver fought on equal footing against the best drivers of the KZ1 category, with his 100% AVG Racing equipment. After numerous overtaking manoeuvres during the heats, he went as high as 6th place at the end of the qualifying heats and was even 5th in the pre-final.

"In front of me I could only see the most experienced and titled drivers" Dylan commented. "I am talking about Lammers, Pex, Iglesias, and Hawkswoth. I am satisfied I maintained my place despite all the pressure. But afterwards it was disappointing to see the drivers who had retired in the final regaining places thanks to their less degraded tyres and I went down to 12th place in the final standings".

In Braga, PCR also celebrated the 9th place conquered by Simo Puhakka, who was the fastest on track during the pre-final.
